Kenders

Short, cheery, mischievous people vaguely resembling elves or gnomes that don't grow above four feet. Nothing gets them down for long. They're like children in their innocence at times, and their cheery view of the world is a trademark of kenders -- serious or depressed kenders are a rarity. They're also compulsive pickpockets with a lack of the notion of private property. It takes a lot of training to break kenders of this habit. Kenders are not very common.

Kenders are not specifically mentioned in the creation myth, but early on there were two theories of their origin: first, that they were elves who refused to grow up, and second, that they were relatives of the gnomes (not a far stretch given the two species' similarities. In modern times, the two have sort of become meshed together, so that most people believe them to be the result of elf/gnome interbreeding.
